Tides Foundation "Right to the City" Report Released

Submitted by News Desk on Sat, 12/29/2007 - 10:00pm

What do we lose when all of our urban centers start to look the same?

How can we connect urban development with green jobs, better schools and affordable housing?

This past May, donor activist Connie Cagampang Heller and Gihan Perera, Executive Director of the Miami Worker’s Center met at Tides Foundation to discuss a new movement that addresses these questions. Based on a broad application of human rights, the Right to the City is a movement emerging in urban centers all over the country. It is a unifying vision for activists and donors across the country focused on collaboration and participatory democracy that seeks to unify our cities and develop meaningful urban communities.
